What Sarasota area nursing rehab centers were top ranked by U.S. News?

Sarasota Memorial Nursing & Rehabilitation Center was named among the nation’s best nursing homes, recognized for both short-term rehabilitation and long-term care in the recently released U.S. News and World Report’s annual “Best Nursing Homes” ratings.

That comes on the heels of a similar accolade from Newsweek, when it was one of three Sarasota area facilities honored as being among “America’s Best Nursing Homes 2025.”

Less than 20% of  the nation’s 15,000-plus skilled-nursing facilities received even one of the two Best Nursing Home rankings U.S. News bestows. SMH’s skilled nursing facility received the highest rankings in both: “Short-Term Rehabilitation” and “Long-Term Care.” 

A total of nine facilities in Sarasota and Manatee counties were listed by the magazine in the Nov. 12 release.

The nine homes, all of which earned high performing ranks on short-term rehabilitation and long-term rehabilitation are: Bay Village of Sarasota; 8400 Vamo Road, Sarasota; Glenridge on Palmer Ranch, 7333 Scotland Way, Sarasota; Sarasota Memorial Nursing & Rehabilitation Center, 5640 Rand Blvd., Sarasota; Sunnyside Nursing Home, 5201 Bahia Vista Street, Sarasota; Inn at Sarasota Bay Club, 1303 N. Tamiami Trail, Sarasota; Plymouth Harbor Smith Care Center, 700 John Ringling Blvd. Sarasota; Surrey Place Healthcare and Rehabilitation, 5525 21st Ave West, Bradenton; Village on the Isle, 920 S. Tamiami Trail, Venice; and Westminster Point Pleasant, 1533 4th Ave. West, Bradenton.

Sarasota Memorial Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, 5640 Rand Blvd, Sarasota, was one of nine area facilities named named among the nation’s best nursing homes for both short-term rehabilitation and long-term care in U.S. News’ annual “Best Nursing Homes” rating.

Sarasota Memorial Nursing & Rehabilitation Center offers skilled nursing and rehabilitation for people recovering from surgery, injury or illness. Its multi-disciplinary team cares for approximately 100 residents around the clock, 365 days a year.

In this year’s study, U.S. News evaluated patient and resident outcomes, such as infection rates; staffing levels; health inspection results, the number of residents taken to the ER or hospitalized, and other indicators of quality, in more than 15,000 skilled nursing facilities caring for 1.1 million residents across the nation.

In conveying the awards, U.S. News noted that health systems and nursing facilities cannot opt out of these annual studies or pay for inclusion on the lists.
