Extended Care Consulting Offers Wide Range of Rehabilitation Services at Various Facilities in Northwest Indiana
There are five different facilities under the same care throughout Northwest Indiana: Munster Med-Inn Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation, Sebo’s Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Dyer Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Lincolnshire Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center, and Spring Mill Health Campus. They are all different, each one with their own services, programs, and culture of life, but they share one same vision: a place to call home.
Kelly Petty is the regional director for business development for all five campuses, serving as the representative of each one and sharing with us what makes each center unique.
Each facility is a nursing and rehabilitation center, which specializes in a combination or all three services: short-term and intensive rehabilitation, long-term care, and memory care.
“Whether people need us for a place to recover for short-term rehab or need a place to call home, we offer everything,” Petty said.
Short-term care is provided in each facility and includes intensive, patient-specific rehab post-surgery. This can include physical, occupational, and speech therapy that will help transition the patient back to health and back to their home. Patients stay at the facility for a length of time determined upon by the patients’ recovery process, within the allowed 100 days provided by funding. Patients are then entitled to the living arrangements and amenities of the facility.
Long-term stays are also provided at several facilities, which means the resident is looking to one of the facilities to be their home. Residents can choose this style of living at the Dyer Nursing center, which is called Sheffield Manor Assisted Living Residence and Spring Mill. Both facilities are assisted-living areas and constructed as apartments for each resident. Depending on the facility, the resident can choose the style of apartment he or wishes to live in. When living here, there are nurse practitioners, staff, and doctors available for all medical needs, plus the residents are again entitled to the amenities offered at each facility.
Memory care is offered at three of the facilities: Spring Mill, Munster Med-Inn and Sebo’s. Nurses who are specifically trained in helping patients who have been diagnosed with Dementia or Alzheimer’s perform this type of care. They work with the residents in a secure unit to guarantee their safety at all times.
What makes these facilities truly unique, Petty said, is the staff at each facility and their long-term commitment and dedication to their work.
“Our facilities have been around a long time and with that comes something we are proud of, and that is the longevity of our staff,” she said. “We have some employees in our buildings who have been here for more than 30 years, which speaks to the dedication of our employees and staff to our residents and to their care.”
The goal moving forward is to continue the amazing healthcare services provided at each facility and open up to the community, letting more people know of these great places. Events, like brunches, holiday parties, and casual family and friends-invited dinners are just some of the ideas Petty listed off to bring more awareness and faces into the buildings.
Petty and the staff are focused on partnering more with local organizations and individuals to showcase what each building has to offer for those looking for healthcare for themselves or for family.
Every building has its own niche, Petty said.
