Intermountain Health today announced it has signed an agreement to acquire Steinberg Diagnostic Medical Imaging (SDMI), a leading outpatient radiology imaging company with 12 locations across the Las Vegas Valley.
The addition of imaging centers to Intermountain’s growing healthcare services in southern Nevada will enhance patient access to high-quality, cost-effective care.
“This decision to bring SDMI to Intermountain aligns with our proactive care model in that it will allow us to provide more coordinated and integrated imaging services for patients,” said Eric Liston, chief clinical shared services officer for Intermountain Health. “As the number of people with chronic and complex health conditions continues to grow, ease of access to high-quality imaging services is more important than ever.”
SDMI, a Diagnostic Imaging Center of Excellence, is accredited by The Accreditation Association for Ambulatory Health Care, accredited in Stereotactic Breast Biopsy by the American College of Radiology, and designated a Lung Cancer Screening Center by the American College of Radiology.
SDMI’s affiliated radiologists are all accredited by the American Board of Radiology and are members of the American College of Radiology. Most are sub-specialized in areas of study in which they performed their fellowship training, such as Interventional Radiology, Musculoskeletal, Women’s Imaging or Pediatric Radiology.
SDMI’s team of more than 550 affiliated or employed radiologists, technologists, and staff are specialty trained in more than 2,000 procedures, ranging from screening mammograms to port placements for chemotherapy.
“We’re excited to join Intermountain Health to share our expertise as a leader not only in imaging, but in integrity, service, and vision,” said Mark Winkler, MD, founding partner and president of SDMI. “We are focused on delivering exceptional patient experience and accurate results through compassion and cutting-edge technology. Intermountain’s mission of helping people live the healthiest lives possible aligns with our dedication to the people of our Las Vegas community.”
Since 1988, SDMI has served patients throughout southern Nevada. Patients will continue to receive the same level of personalized care they have come to expect from both SDMI and Intermountain. The transition of care will take place sometime after January 1, 2026, and will be introduced in phases.
“We are thrilled to welcome SDMI to Intermountain, expanding our ability to care for patients across their entire medical journey here in Las Vegas,” said Jon Woozley, interim chief medical officer and associate chief medical officer for advanced practice for Intermountain Health’s Desert Region. “Increased access to top-notch imaging services will not only contribute to an improved community experience with healthcare but also improve their overall health outcomes.”
Intermountain is a nonprofit healthcare organization offering patient care at more than 80 clinics at over 65 locations across southern Nevada in primary care, urgent care, and multiple specialties including oncology, cardiology, endocrinology, pulmonology, physical medicine, and women’s and children’s health.
Intermountain plans to break ground next year on a 200-bed pediatric healthcare facility, the first-ever stand-alone comprehensive children’s hospital in Nevada. With its extended provider network, Intermountain delivers patient-centered primary, specialty, and urgent care services to approximately 350,000 southern Nevadans in Clark and Nye counties.
